If you gathered some of the brightest minds in prosthetic urology, added cadaver labs, spirited case discussions, and a healthy dose of surgical storytelling, you’d end up with something that looked a lot like the Coloplast Men’s Health Advanced Course Surgical Skills Workshop in Tampa, Florida.
This June, Dr. Paul Perito had the privilege of serving as faculty alongside an outstanding group of men’s health specialists, sharing the practical knowledge and real-world techniques that have helped shape modern penile implant surgery.
The event was hosted by Dr. Rafael Carrion, one of the country’s leading voices in prosthetic urology, a dedicated educator, and a valued member of the UroFill provider network. Dr. Carrion has long been committed to elevating the standard of care in men’s sexual health, creating opportunities for surgeons to refine their skills and exchange ideas that ultimately benefit patients everywhere.
The workshop brought together physicians eager to expand their expertise through hands-on learning and collaborative discussion. From complex case reviews to cadaveric surgical training, attendees had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of penile prosthetics in an environment designed for growth.
For Dr. Perito, education has always been one of the most rewarding aspects of medicine.
“When surgeons teach each other openly and honestly, everyone wins—especially our patients,” he said.
One of the most exciting aspects of these programs is the willingness of experienced surgeons to share not only their successes, but also the lessons they’ve learned along the way. It’s this spirit of collaboration that continues to push the field of prosthetic urology forward.
And while the topics discussed are serious, the atmosphere is often anything but formal. Men’s health specialists are a unique group, being equal parts innovators, problem-solvers, and storytellers. The exchange of ideas over dinner can be just as valuable as the conversations happening in the lab.
As the field of sexual medicine continues to evolve, events like this remind us that excellence doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens when physicians challenge each other, mentor the next generation, and remain committed to lifelong learning.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Rafael Carrion for hosting another exceptional educational experience and to Coloplast for supporting advanced surgical training that helps improve outcomes for men around the world.
At Perito Urology, we’re proud to be part of a community that never stops learning—and never stops looking for ways to help men reclaim confidence, intimacy, and quality of life. When it comes to men’s health, there is always another technique to refine, another surgeon to mentor, and another patient whose life can be changed.
