On November 6–7, 2025, Perito Urology hosted a Coloplast-sponsored surgical training program for surgical assistants, APPs (Advanced Practice Providers), and first assists, the often-unsung heroes behind successful penile implant surgeries.
Perito Urology Welcomes the University of Texas Team
Dr. Clay Williams and his dedicated team from the University of Texas at Tyler traveled to Miami for two days of immersive education, combining clinic observation, live didactic learning, and a six-case surgical day. Led by Dr. Paul Perito, Dr. Alfie Suarez-Sarmiento, Brett Levitt, PA, and surgical assistants Amaury Frias and Frank Paez, the program reinforced a key philosophy:
“A high-volume implanter is only as good as their team.”
Thursday: Building Knowledge, One Patient at a Time
The first day placed participants in the heart of patient care from pre-op evaluations to post-op reviews and offered insight into how Perito Urology’s streamlined protocols create safer, faster recoveries.
The evening didactic session allowed visiting teams to break down surgical flow and learn strategies for optimizing outcomes, managing instruments, and enhancing communication inside the OR. Attendees watched Dr. Perito break down his surgical video, giving invaluable real-life situational insight.
Friday: Six Surgeries, Countless Lessons
Friday’s six live Titan® penile implant cases, comprising a mix of virgin and revision surgeries, demonstrated the efficiency of the Perito Minimally Invasive Infrapubic Technique. Attendees watched surgical choreography in action: Every step highlighted the team’s precision.
With guidance from Amaury Frias and Frank Paez, the visiting team saw how exceptional outcomes depend not only on surgical skill but on team rhythm, anticipation, and trust.
