The Mexican Society of Urology (Sociedad Mexicana de Urología, SMU) welcomed global experts to Guadalajara for its 76th Annual Congress, one of Latin America’s premier urologic meetings, drawing hundreds of specialists in andrology, prosthetics, and reconstructive surgery. Among the distinguished international faculty was Dr. Paul E. Perito, founder of Perito Urology in Coral Gables, Florida, and recognized worldwide for his pioneering work in penile implant surgery and minimally invasive approaches to men’s health.
Sharing 28 Years of Experience in Penile Prosthetics
Dr. Perito began his participation on November 19 in the Penile Prosthetic Surgery Course, designed to provide attendees with a practical understanding of penile implant fundamentals. His lectures focused on two of the most important technical challenges in prosthetic surgery:
- “The Infrapubic Surgical Approach for Penile Prosthesis Implantation: Indications and Technique”: a concise, 12-minute presentation highlighting the minimally invasive infrapubic method that Dr. Perito helped popularize worldwide.
- “How to Manage Proximal or Distal Perforations and Cylinder Crossover”: a surgical problem-solving talk addressing complications and rescue maneuvers essential for both new and seasoned implanters

These sessions formed part of a broader training effort to elevate surgical proficiency and ensure patient safety in prosthetic urology.
Andrology Plenary: Crossfire and Clinical Insights
Later that day, Dr. Perito took the stage during the Andrology Plenary Session, a standing-room-only event where experts debated modern strategies for erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease. In the high-energy Crossfire 60° Debate, he defended the combined approach of “Prosthesis + Scratch” over traditional Plication + PDE5 inhibitors for men with Peyronie’s disease and mild erectile dysfunction, advocating for a definitive solution that restores both function and form.
Dr. Perito also shared “Insights from My Practice: Injectable-Based Penile Girth Augmentation,” an 8-minute lecture exploring advances in hyaluronic acid–based penile enhancement and the evolution of the UroFill® technique, the only patented method of its kind. He later joined the Expert Panel Discussion titled “Debunking Myths: Safety of Testosterone Replacement Therapy,” where leading clinicians addressed public misconceptions about TRT and men’s health longevity
Advancing Genital Aesthetics and Modern Men’s Health
In the afternoon, Dr. Perito contributed to the Genital Aesthetics Course with his lecture “Penile Augmentation with Injectable Hyaluronic Acid,” emphasizing patient safety, aesthetic proportion, and the integration of UroFill® within comprehensive men’s wellness programs. His presentation reflected the growing international acceptance of cosmetic urology as a legitimate subspecialty grounded in science, artistry, and ethics
Live Surgery at Puerta de Hierro Hospital
On November 20, Dr. Perito led a hands-on surgical course at Puerta de Hierro Hospital, collaborating with leading Mexican urologists on live penile prosthesis implantation cases. The session allowed participants to directly observe Dr. Perito’s efficient infrapubic technique, reinforcing the principles of reproducibility, minimal invasiveness, and optimal postoperative outcomes

Dr. Perito’s visit to Guadalajara symbolizes the continued partnership between the Perito Urology Network and Latin American training programs. The SMU leadership — Drs.
